SURFING

Mark Hampton Website

Hello All,

Have you ever had a hard time managing your emotions?  Have you ever said something you wish you could take back?  How about reacting in a way which you wish you could go back and change?  Well, I am here to tell you managing emotions are one of the hardest things which I had to learn to do.  Guess what!!?? I am still learning.  I had a very good friend tell me not so long ago, “it’s sure is hard being a Christian”.  Shortly after that, he went on to say, something about Grace.  Well it is always easier to see things more clearly when we are on the outside looking in.  However, when we are caught up in the emotion, we are literally in the bubble-on the wave, if you will.  If we think of our emotions like waves in the ocean, some really big (tsunami size) and some just a little choppy, we can learn to “ride the wave” so to speak.  If we allow those emotions to just roll through us and sit still until that huge wave breaks….then you will have calm.  I have learned personally, this works best for me.

However, as I mentioned earlier, I am still learning how to surf!  If you need help or assistance, please feel free to contact us @ 253-735-0665.  God bless you ALL!! Mark

GETTING STARTED

Mark Hampton Website

Hello All,

Have you ever felt like all you need is a chance?  Just a break?  Just an opportunity?  If someone would just believe in me or my idea?  I think we all bump into those obstacles from time to time. I think we all may have those moments within our own lives when we just need someone to believe in what we are about, what we are trying to do or our vision.  I believe if we are persistent enough and knock on enough doors then one will open.  There is someone out there that will find our/your vision/idea attractive enough to support you through it.  The break you need is out there, do not give up, do not quit, and do not loose HOPE!! Push through the adversity and lean on a little FAITH.  It only takes a “mustard seed”.  God bless you all and if you need support please feel free to call us @ 253-735-0665.  Mark

CHECK IN!

Mark Hampton Website

HELLO ALL,

It has been awhile and I wanted to check in with you all!  Things have been moving right along here.  As a matter of fact, I’ve been out a couple of weeks, and my staff have “ROCKED” in my absence.  You know there are times in our lives when we cannot be in all places at once and have to let go and allow others to step up! I am not really in control…God is!! When I allow Him to take control then all seems to go well and I have less to worry about.  When I try to take control, worry, fear and some other things sets in…which keeps my mind going. Does this every happen to you?  Prayer and faith help me here! God bless you all and if you need any support please feel free to reach out 253-735-0665. Mark

STAYING THE COURSE

Mark Hampton Website

HELLO ALL,

As I was sitting here with sweat literally dripping down my face and head, I received a friendly reminder that I have not blogged anything for “24 days to be exact”.  Reason…just put it at the bottom of the list.  Or may be it wasn’t even on the list recently?  Has that ever happened to you when things you should do, you place them on the bottom of the list only to forget about the importance in doing them?  I was sitting in our lobby, air-conditioning broken, sweating and then I found myself thanking the Lord because this is exactly what men and women are currently experiencing with the exception of no shelter to seek.  They are out there stuck in their addiction and circumstances.  I bet a some point, some of them may have even thought about seeking some sort of assistance and decided to pursue it later.  Therefore, they are stuck on this path of suffering and exposure to elements (HEAT).  It is important we seek the assistance when we feel we need it…we STAY THE COURSE to help and safety. Do not let others distract you from the assistance which awaits.  Restoration is just a phone call away!! STAY THE COURSE and get some help.  God bless you all, Mark

CHECK IN

Mark Hampton Website

HELLO ALL,

Wanted to check in, it has been a few weeks since my last update regarding my mom.  I can tell you it has been a rough ride since then.  Sometimes life sure has a way of coming at us hard even when we are sober.  I remember when I used to think that as soon as I got clean and sober life would be smooth sailing.  Have you ever thought along those lines before?  Did life throw you a curve ball?? Well, it felt like I was hit by the actual pitch! lol I know now that life isn’t always pink clouds and smooth sailing.  Sometimes life can hit me all at once.  Recently, I had to use almost every tool that I knew of to navigate those rough waters and find a calm sea.  I had to get myself to a quite place(lake), pray, journal, pray, meet with a support person, cry, do some meditation, and workout just to name a few coping skills.  Well I did ALL that and then some and here I am!! Still standing Still clean and sober!! Life isn’t always easy, and we are going to go through difficult times, it’s how we handle those circumstances and emotions which will determine the outcome of those moments in our lives.  Get to a quite place where you can decompress and allow your emotions to settle like a calm sea.  God bless you all and keep to your path.  If you need assistance please reach out to us 253-735-0665. WHY DO THIS??

iLocal2020 Website

Hello All,

Project Roomkey Sheltered Thousands Of California’s Homeless Residents. Will The Model Live On Post-Pandemic?

HELLO ALL,

What you see here is my mom….Lana.  My mother has been homeless for off an on 25+ years.  I remember when I first saw this article on Monday, my sister called to tell me she heard the interview on the radio…PNR. When I got home from work that same day I pulled up the article, read it, emailed the reporter and asked for the audio & actual story.  The reporter (Chris) was wonderful not only in sending me the info, but was very gracious in how he interviewed my mother and her friend Mary.  Why am I sharing this with you all?  Well it’s simple, for about 24 hours after I saw this story I started to question “WHAT AM I DOING, IF I CAN’T HELP MY OWN MOTHER, DOES ALL THIS REALLY MATTER”!? Well after some serious prayer and reflection, because of people like my mother, are exactly why I am supposed to do this! Also, It was revealed to me, that there are certain things we need to take into consideration if we really want to make a difference in peoples lives who are chronically homeless, who suffer from mental health issues, and SUD (substance abuse disorders).  We need to look beyond how we are doing things, the processes used, along with how we are utilizing current resources and language.  We need to do something WAY different then we are doing today if we are going to make a difference.  I have just the idea/solution.  Stay tuned…”With Christ all things are possible”! Stay blessed and remember, if you need assistance, please feel free to reach out to us.  253-735-0665

STEPPING BACK

Mark Hampton Website

Hello All!!

Have you ever had to take a step back to let the dust settle?  I am in the middle of something right now where I think it requires me stepping back allowing for God’s direction and guidance.  Usually, if I attempt to proceed with my way/my will, then it typically does not work out so well. I have found by listening to guidance and suggestions from others, that I am able to make a healthy decision.  I also utilize prayer, which is just me speaking with God.  The important piece after having the conversation is listening for the answer.  Which usually requires me STEPPING BACK and sitting still in order to be able to hear anything.  When I do this things seem to work out much better.  In a rush!?….don’t be afraid to STEP BACK.  If you need help please feel free to give us a call @ 253-735-0665.  God Bless you all, Mark.

SPEED BUMPS

Mark Hampton Website

Hello All,

How do we handle “Speed Bumps” in life today?  What do you consider to be a “Speed Bump” in life today?  I had a person just the other day actually make reference to an issue in his life as a “Speed Bump”.  When I think about driving over a “Speed Bump”, I usually begin at slowing down first before I go over it.  I have went over a “Speed Bump” at almost full speed, and my head hit the top of the roof in my car as a result of not slowing down.  I don’t think my vehicle liked the encounter much either.   What I have discovered is, if I slow down enough, then that momentary bump in the road(life), can be managed a heck of a lot better, then if I’m rolling at full speed.  I am able to think better, feel, manage my emotions more evenly, and even make good choices around how to handle that momentary “Speed Bump” which can surface from time to time.  Life is full of surprises and unexpected circumstances, however if we slow down enough we have the ability to navigate those “Bumps”(in life) a lot easier.   If you are in need of Supportive Housing please reach out to us @ 253-246-1613.  Remember, slow down…YOU CAN DO IT! God bless you, Mark.
